The Four Months Combined — Prayer Book, 1892 THE FOUR MONTHS COMBINED. A small book of Catholic devotion. Braine-le-Comte, Zech & Fils Printing House, ecclesiastical approval dated Mechelen, July 31, 1892. A small volume containing prayers and devotional exercises, including the Months of Mary, prayers to Saint Joseph, prayers for the souls in purgatory, and a guide to attending Mass. The text is framed by beautiful neo-Renaissance ornamental borders featuring allegorical figures of Faith and Hope. A separate engraving depicting an angel guiding a pilgrim. Copy no. 530. Very attractive period binding in green morocco leather, spine ribbed and richly decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons, covers framed by multiple gilt fillets, gilt inner edge, gilt edges; blue silk bookmark. A few marks and scuffs on the covers; interior well preserved. A beautiful devotional object from the late 19th century, whose appeal lies primarily in the quality of the binding and the typographic design.
