[mid-20th century]. 12mo, paperback, pale yellow cover printed in blue, approximately 348 pp. A reprint of Huysmans’s famous naturalist novel, the original edition of which was published by Charpentier in 1881. The BnF lists, in particular, the second edition of 1881, also 348 pages long. The Bibliothèque Charpentier continued to be published by Fasquelle until the 1950s; a Fasquelle edition of *En ménage* dated 1955, 348 pages, is notably documented. Paperback copy, in fairly good overall condition: slightly yellowed and soiled cover, small old price tag reading “6.00 NF” on the back cover, paper uniformly browned, a few creases and signs of wear. Binding still sound.
