In-8, paperback, illustrated color cover with raised bands, spine printed in red, green, and black. A richly illustrated volume devoted to Normandy, presenting the province from geographical, historical, artistic, and ethnographic perspectives. The work is by Marcel Hérubel, Hermann Quéru, Georges Huard, and Georges Diard. Institutional bibliographic records list 241 pages, including figures, black-and-white and color plates, and maps. Numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions in the text and color plates, notably devoted to traditional Norman costumes. The work belongs to the “Provinciales” collection, a series prized for the richness of its regional iconography; a contemporary review describes it as a collection of richly illustrated “short works” devoted to the various French provinces. This copy is preserved in its attractive original illustrated paperback binding, featuring the coat of arms of Normandy on the front cover. Condition: good copy. Cover is slightly soiled and shows a few minor signs of wear; spine is slightly rubbed, and the top and bottom edges and corners are slightly worn. Small old pencil annotation in the upper corner of the front cover. Interior appears clean and fresh; color plates are well preserved.
