Small in-12 format, XV-58 pp., carefully printed on fine paper, adorned with engraved headbands, initials, and tailpieces. The BnF confirms this 1872 Paris edition and its inclusion among the publications of the Librairie des Bibliophiles. A special print run of only 50 numbered copies, comprising 25 copies on China paper (nos. 1–25) and 25 copies on Whatman paper (nos. 26–50). This copy, no. 32, is one of the 25 copies on Whatman paper. Another copy from the same print run on Whatman paper, no. 44, is well documented in public auctions. Later binding in duck-blue half-cloth with corner pieces, covers of matching marbled paper, smooth spine adorned with a red morocco title label bearing “GRESSET — VER-VERT” in gold letters, a small gold fleur-de-lis, and the date 1872 at the bottom. Untrimmed copy, retaining fine margins. This edition features the famous heroic-comic poem *Ver-Vert*, devoted to the adventures of a parrot raised at the Visitandines convent in Nevers, accompanied by *Carême in-promptu* and *Le Lutrin vivant*. The editorial note specifies that the text of *Ver-Vert* follows that of the Renouard edition, which was then considered the best. A fine copy of the rare first printing on Whatman paper. A few very slight foxing spots or small scattered marks; the paper is well preserved. The binding is clean and sturdy, with some minor scuffing. The title label has a small tear on its right edge, visible in the photographs. Overall, a very satisfactory item.
