In-8 (approx. 21.5 × 16 cm), paperback, embossed cover printed in black and ochre, with the publisher’s illustrated dust jacket. 234 pp. Twelve color plates by Raoul Dufy, reproduced from his watercolors. A beautiful illustrated edition of André Gide’s *Les Nourritures terrestres* and *Les Nouvelles nourritures*, constituting the first volume in the illustrated collection “Le Rayon d’Or.” The text, set in the “Imprint” Elzevir typeface, as well as Raoul Dufy’s illustrations, were printed on Crèvecœur vellum from the Papeteries du Marais by the Société Industrielle d’Imprimerie in Levallois, with the “printed” date bearing October 20, 1950. The print run was limited to 4,060 copies, all on Crèvecœur vellum, comprising 4,000 copies numbered from 1 to 4,000 and 60 non-commercial copies numbered from I to LX. One of the 60 non-commercial copies, this one being No. LVII. The book is illustrated with twelve watercolors by Raoul Dufy, reproduced in full-page color, whose freshness and free-flowing lines complement Gide’s text particularly well. A copy with full margins, untrimmed. A fine copy preserved in its original presentation; a few small tears and signs of wear on the dust jacket, particularly on the spine, which also has a small stain. Interior is in fresh condition.
