Square in-12 format, 133 pages, paperback, cover lined with brown paper, title and border printed in red and black. Facsimile of an autograph fragment from Francis Gérard’s manuscript as a frontispiece. The bibliography of the Swiss National Library confirms the collation, the 16-cm format, and its inclusion as No. 33 in the *Cahiers nouveaux* series. FIRST EDITION, printed in a limited run of only 775 numbered copies: 25 copies on Japanese paper and 750 copies on Rives vellum. One of the 750 copies on Rives vellum, this one being No. 192. A curious philosophical essay in which Francis Gérard explores the various systems through which humans seek to organize and explain the world: science, religion, morality, common sense, intelligence, and experience. The work is part of the interesting *Cahiers nouveaux* series published by Simon Kra, which featured numerous literary texts and contemporary essays in the 1920s. A fine copy preserved in its original paperback binding, with full margins. A few very slight marks and small stains on the cover; the interior is fresh.
