In-8, paperback, cover printed in blue and green, untrimmed. Partially original edition; several of the collections comprising this volume are listed as previously unpublished. Ninth volume of the definitive edition of *Ballades françaises* and *Chroniques de France*. *Bol d’Air* brings together poems that showcase the full range of Paul Fort’s artistry: familiar and musical poetry, evocations of nature, Paris, and Montmartre, as well as fantasy and popular lyricism. The work is preceded by a foreword by Guillaume Apollinaire. A precious copy enhanced by a significant autographed dedication by Paul Fort to Madame Macloud, dated September 23, 1946: “To Madame Macloud, from a troubadour from Champagne and Paris, in respectful tribute & with warmest regards. Paul Fort September 23, 1946.” Below this, Paul Fort added the following handwritten thought: “I was a poet before I was born, and I can’t help it, just as Merlin knew how to read before he was born. ” A very beautiful dedication, particularly characteristic of Paul Fort’s world, in which he presents himself as a “troubadour from Champagne and Paris” and accompanies his inscription with a delightful poetic profession of faith. Copy preserved in its original publisher’s booklet, with a printed cover and spine. A few foxing spots and stains on the cover, minor wear and creases on the headbands and corners; foxing on the first few pages, interior otherwise well-preserved. A fine collector’s copy, enhanced by a long, signed autograph dedication and a handwritten note by Paul Fort.
