The colophon lists a limited first printing consisting of 5 copies on China paper, 25 on Japan paper, 60 on Holland Van Gelder paper, and 300 on Lafuma pure-thread paper. Biography of Arthur de Gobineau (1816–1882) by Jacques-Napoléon Faure-Biguet, tracing his career and body of work as a writer, diplomat, and essayist. The book is part of the *Le Roman des Grandes Existences* collection and was published in 1930 by Plon. Elegant half-blond calfskin binding, decorated with two title labels in different colors and gilt fleurons. Some scuffing and discoloration on the spines and leather covers, but the binding is sturdy and decorative. Interior is clean, with a slight natural patina on the paper.
