Illustrated edition featuring 8 original lithographs by Paulette Humbert, printed separately from the text. The BnF accurately describes this edition under the title *Le Réveil des morts*, with 335 pages, eight illustrations, and a frontispiece, printed in Argenteuil by Coulouma. Limited edition of 1,100 numbered copies, distributed as follows: 10 copies on Imperial Japan paper (nos. 1–10), 30 on Holland Van Gelder (nos. 11–40), 150 on Vidalon royal vellum (nos. 41–190), and 910 on Arches vellum (nos. 191–1,100), in addition to non-commercial and artist’s copies. One of the 910 copies on Arches vellum, this one being No. 346. The composition of the print run is confirmed by the known copies; notably, an Arches copy numbered 734 is described in a bibliophile auction. A novel deeply influenced by the experience of World War I, *Le Réveil des morts* depicts the devastated regions and the difficult postwar reconstruction. In it, Dorgelès continues, following *Les Croix de bois*, his exploration of the human and material consequences of the conflict. Paulette Humbert’s lithographs, with their somber and expressive tones, complement the text particularly well. A fine paperback copy, with full margins, preserved in its attractive typographic dust jacket from the “Le Paon Blanc” collection. Very slight marks and soiling on the dust jacket, a small crease and a minor tear at the upper corner of the back cover; interior is fresh.
