Square 8vo, approximately 22 × 16.5 cm, 91 pp., paperback, softcover in old rose marbled paper, printed title label pasted onto the front cover. Illustrations by Claude Rémusat, including full-page illustrations, headpieces, and ornaments, in black and in color. Copies of the vellum edition are described as containing 19 illustrations, including 8 full-page color illustrations. Illustrated edition from 1928, the first illustrated by Claude Rémusat, published after the 1924 edition of *Luxures* illustrated by Charles Gir. A collection of libertine and erotic texts and poems, typical of Maurice Dekobra’s cosmopolitan and deliberately provocative style. Rémusat’s illustrations, strongly influenced by the aesthetics of the 1920s, accompany the text with depictions of women and amorous scenes rendered in a deliberately light and caricatured style. A particularly interesting edition: a single copy on pearly white Japanese paper with the originals and the manuscript; 4 on pearlescent white Japanese paper; 20 on imperial Japanese paper; 50 on Van Gelder Holland paper; 500 copies on vellum, numbered from 76 to 575; plus 85 non-commercial copies. One of the 500 copies on vellum, this one no. 264, with color plates and headpieces. A paperback copy preserved in its original cover, which is preferable here to a later standard binding. The cover is slightly faded and scuffed, particularly on the spine, with small tears at the top and bottom; the label is well-preserved. The interior appears fresh, with wide margins and a few pages still uncut. A good copy overall.
