DADZU [Daniel DUPÉCHEZ]. — Actuali-têtes. Saint-André-de-Cubzac, published by the author, circa 1975]. In-8, portfolio with flaps made of heavy white paper; front cover illustrated in black and purple with a caricature self-portrait of Dadzu, title in large purple letters. A collection of caricatures of political figures and personalities from the entertainment world, drawn by Dadzu (Daniel Dupéchez, 1926–1999), a singer-songwriter, actor, and caricaturist who was particularly known for sketching celebrities in Parisian cabarets. An early version of *Actuali-têtes* was cataloged by the National Library of France as early as 1963; Dadzu subsequently revised and expanded his portfolio on several occasions. The BnF notably lists a 1975 edition. The portraits are printed on loose sheets, each bearing the subject’s name at the top and Dadzu’s reproduced signature. The copy shown here includes caricatures of Raymond Devos and Serge Gainsbourg, who was playfully renamed “Serge Gainsbarre.” The later editions of *Actuali-têtes* specifically include among their subjects Gainsbourg, Devos, Brassens, Brel, Aznavour, Pierre Perret, Giscard d’Estaing, and various political figures. Dadzu was one of the caricaturists associated with the cabaret world: he was already drawing celebrities at L’Écluse as early as 1951, before publishing his portraits under the title *Actuali-têtes*. The portfolio is in generally good condition, with a few slight marks, scuffs, and small creases from normal use on the cover.
