CERVANTES (Miguel de) — LEMARIÉ (Henry) The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha. Illustrations by Henry Lemarié. Paris, Éditions d’Art Les Heures Claires, 1957–1960. 3 of 4 volumes, in-4, in loose sheets, illustrated hardcovers, with the publisher’s decorated slipcases and covers. An edition illustrated with color miniatures by Henry Lemarié, woodcut engravings. The complete edition comprises 92 miniatures, the production of which required some 3,500 woodblocks. Limited edition of 2,900 numbered copies on Rives vellum. This is an incomplete copy of the fourth and final volume, and consequently also lacks the colophon page bearing the copy number. The three surviving volumes are presented in their elegant slipcases decorated by the publisher, featuring pink, cream, and gold accents. The three present volumes are in fine overall condition, with some signs of wear on the slipcases. The fourth volume is missing.
