PORTUGAL — $1.75 — 8th Centenary of Portugal Horizontal pair of blue $1.75 stamps, a commemorative issue bearing the dates 1140–1940. The design depicts a medieval warrior in front of a fortified structure, issued to mark the 8th centennial of Portugal’s founding and nationhood. The two stamps are still attached and bear a shared circular postmark. A very attractive set visually. Condition: fairly good; a few minor irregularities in the perforation, but the pair is complete.
