NORWAY — Centennial of the Births of Nansen and Amundsen, 1947 — 55 øre 1947. Commemorative stamp issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the births of polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen (1861–1930) and Roald Amundsen (1872–1928). Face value 55 øre, printed in brown-orange. Side-by-side portraits of the two explorers on the left and an expedition ship on the right. Inscriptions: “1847 POST 1947” and “NANSEN AMUNDSEN POLARFORSKNING.” Cancelled specimen, perforated. Some signs of postal use and slight discoloration of the paper; overall condition satisfactory.
