FRANCE — Marianne de Gandon — 6 francs, red Fourth Republic. Commonly used stamp featuring the Marianne de Gandon design, face value 6 francs, red. Effigy of the Republic wearing a Phrygian cap; inscriptions “RF” and “POSTES.” Designed by Pierre Gandon, engraved by Henri Cortot. Canceled specimen on a fragment, perforated. Partial cancellation; the effigy is clearly legible. Some signs of wear and yellowed backing paper.
