In-4, paperback, color-illustrated cover based on a work by Théodore Géricault, with numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions. Issue No. 89, April 1962, of the monthly journal *Jardin des Arts*, a major French publication devoted to art history, architecture, and archaeology. The cover features a detail from Théodore Géricault’s famous *The Raft of the Medusa*. A particularly diverse issue featuring, among others: Georges Pillement, *The Resurrection of the Marais*; Philippe Soupault, *Dada*; Denise Aimé-Azam, *The Passion of Théodore Géricault*; Michel Ragon, “Antonio Gaudí, Pioneer of Contemporary Baroque Architecture”; Henri Perruchot, “The Painters of the Forest of Fontainebleau”; Yvan Christ, “Discovering Montferrand and Riom”; Henry-J. Reynaud, “The Antique Earthenware of Moustiers”; as well as columns on exhibitions, art reproductions, and a bibliography of Impressionism. Michel Ragon’s article on Antoni Gaudí is richly illustrated, notably with a portrait of the architect and a spectacular full-page photograph of the Sagrada Família. The study on the painters of the Fontainebleau Forest is accompanied by numerous reproductions, notably of works by Jean-François Millet, and examines the role of Barbizon and Fontainebleau in the birth of Impressionism. The issue also includes a remarkable advertisement for *Atlas Histoire*, No. 20, May 1962. Condition: Cover is rubbed, with wear on the headband, edges, and corners, as well as creases and small marks; however, the spine and binding appear sturdy. The interior is in satisfactory condition, with some signs of handling and slight signs of age.
