ECONOMIDES (Anton) - Lot 109
ECONOMIDES (Anton) Greece: The Crossroads of Gods and Men. Paris-Grenoble, Arthaud, 1955. Large quarto, paperback with a color-illustrated photographic dust jacket, 106 pp., very abundant black-and-white photographic illustrations—full-page and inset—with a few color reproductions. Printed in Switzerland. Original French edition, published in 1955. Bibliographic catalogs correctly list Arthaud, 1955, 106 pages, and a format of approximately 28 cm. A beautiful photographic album dedicated to Greece, in which Anton Economides alternates between ancient monuments, sculptures, landscapes, religious architecture, and iconic sites: Athens and the Acropolis, Delphi, the Meteora, etc. The layout, very characteristic of the major Arthaud photo albums of the 1950s, gives prominence to the photographs, which are often reproduced full-page. A good copy in its original dust jacket. The dust jacket is slightly scuffed, with minor wear and small tears along the edges, a few smudges, and a stain on the front cover; the book block is well-preserved and the interior is clean.
