[CERNUSCHI MUSEUM]. — Art Treasures of Thailand. Paris, Cernuschi Museum - French Association for Artistic Action, 1964. Large 8vo, paperback, with a black-and-white illustrated cover featuring a carved head of Buddha. Catalog of the major exhibition held at the Cernuschi Museum from May 21 to July 13, 1964, devoted to the ancient art of Thailand. The exhibition was notably supported by André Malraux and featured a major collection of works from Thai collections. Foreword by Vadime Elisseeff, with contributions by George Cœdès, Jean Boisselier, and M. C. Subhadradis Diskul. Catalog of 258 works, preceded by studies on the major periods of Thai art: Dvāravatī, Srīvijaya, Lopburi, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok. Extensive illustrations including a full-page map, 2 color plates, and 64 black-and-white photographic plates, depicting Buddhist sculptures, bronzes, terracottas, votive objects, gold and silverware, ceramics, lacquerware, and furniture. Bibliography and glossary. Complete copy, in good overall condition. Cover is slightly rubbed with a few minor signs of wear; there is a small, old pencil annotation “30-” on the title page. Interior is fresh and well-preserved.
