Spirou Album No. 101 - Dupuis Publisher's Binding - 1967 (Bl - Lot 137
Spirou Album No. 101 - Dupuis Publisher's Binding - 1967 (Blue Cloth Spine - Centennial Album / Franquin) A compilation album of Spirou magazine stories, publisher’s binding No. 101 (the very first issue following the Centennial compilation), published by Éditions Dupuis around 1967. This hardcover collector’s edition features a stunning, poetic, and nostalgic cover illustrated by André Franquin, depicting Spirou and Spip sitting at the foot of a tree, watching as portraits of the magazine’s iconic characters (Lucky Luke, Gaston Lagaffe, The Smurfs, Boule and Bill, Johan and Pirlouit, Jerry Spring, Sibylline, Marc Dacier, La Ribambelle, etc.) flying out of a comic book. It brings together the complete collection of consecutive issues of the magazine, featuring numerous full-length stories, serialized episodes, and gag strips from the golden age of Marcinelle. Item details: Title: Spirou - 101st Album of the Spirou Magazine Publisher: Éditions J. Dupuis, Fils & Cⁱᵉ (Marcinelle / Paris) Format: Large format, publisher’s hardcover binding with original navy blue cloth spine Date: Circa 1967 Condition and details: Front cover: Luminous illustration with very fresh and vivid colors. A few small superficial marks and scuffs from normal wear (particularly on the right side and near the tree trunk; see photos). Spine & Caps: Original blue cloth spine is well-preserved and in good condition. Back Cover: Cover on a textured orange background showing some scuffing and signs of age along the edges. The publisher’s label in the lower right corner is incomplete at the bottom, but the main text remains legible; there is a small, superficial tear above the label and a discreet, old handwritten note in pencil in the upper left corner. Interior: Complete book block, pages in good condition, and the binding is sound. A vintage copy from the 1960s that is particularly iconic and highly sought after for its anthology cover illustration by André Franquin!
