"On the Tōkaidō Road"
In the 1830s, Hiroshige created several series of woodblock prints illustrating the famous road between Tokyo and Kyoto, which inspired so many scenes for Japanese poets and novelists. This box set contains a facsimile of the *Little Tōkaidō*, never before reproduced, a description of the 53 stations as depicted by the artist in a booklet, and a comparative album featuring other variations of these stations from various series in different formats.
