WALFERDIN (François, Hippolyte). (1795–1880) French physicist. Founder of the Geological Society of France. Signed autograph letter Paris, December 1, 1856. 2 pages, small quarto. Addressed to Dr. Ossian Henry. With address, postmark, stamp, and postal marks. Scientific letter—thermometry and hot springs Walferdin proposes a meeting with his correspondent and discusses his work: “…the various sets of instruments I have proposed using to observe the temperature of hot springs…” He also notes: “I have devoted considerable attention to the subject of hot springs in thermometric reports and geological reports…”
