SAINT-HILAIRE (Jean-Henri Jaume, known as Jaume Saint-Hilaire) (Grasse, 1772 – Paris, 1845) Naturalist and artist. Autograph letter "Jaume Saint-Hilaire" to Arthus Bertrand. Paris, April 28, 1825. 1 page, in-4 (single sheet), written in cursive ink, autograph signature; with an invoice note at the bottom of the page and on the reverse. Letter addressed to the famous publisher and bookseller Arthus Bertrand, regarding the delivery of a voucher and payment for books. “I have the honor of writing to Mr. Arthus Bertrand and ask him to give the bearer the voucher I requested from him yesterday, as per the attached note.” The document is accompanied by a handwritten accounting breakdown listing several batches of copies: “17 copies of the 13th edition” “17 copies of the 14th edition” “24 copies from a previous order” with the total, a 30% deduction, and the final amount (142 f 10 c).
