ROSTAND (Jean). Born in Paris, 1894—died in Ville-d'Avray, 1977. French biologist, writer, and member of the Académie Française, son of Edmond Rostand and Rosemonde Gérard. A leading figure in the popularization of science, he devoted his research to amphibians and experimental biology, while also producing a significant body of literary and moral works. Autograph letter signed “Jean Rostand,” addressed to “Monsieur” [Auguste Dupouy]. No place, November 9, 1925. 1 page, folio.
