MIRES (Jules Isaac). - Lot 218
MIRES (Jules Isaac).
Born in Bordeaux in 1809—died in 1871.
French banker.
Autograph letter signed “J. Mires,” addressed to “My dear Henry.”
Bordeaux, September 4, 1839.
1/2 page.
A short administrative letter in which Jules Mires sends his correspondent documents relating to taxes for the year 1838. He specifies that he granted the recipient’s mother a reduction of 89 francs 13 centimes, which was duly taken into account in the calculation of the taxes.
This practical note illustrates the financial activities and management relationships in which Mires was involved prior to his major speculative ventures during the Second Empire. It is an example of private correspondence in which tax concerns and relationships of trust intertwine.
Autograph signature.
