MEJAN (Maurice). Lawyer, royalist publicist. Attorney at the Parliament of Provence, in Paris, and at the Court of Cassation. Brother of Count Étienne Méjan. Autograph letter signed “M. Méjan.” December 18, 1816. 1 page, folio size, folded. Address on the reverse with traces of a seal. An interesting letter in the context of the Restoration. Méjan refers to a personal situation that is “more aggravated than improved” and requests an extension “until the end of January,” while mentioning expected appointments “to the courts that have not yet been established.” He expresses his confidence that he will be “included in this work” and will thus be able to satisfy his correspondent. A document that reveals the expectations and administrative uncertainties under the Restoration, blending personal considerations with prospects for judicial appointment.
