LOBEY (Henri). - Lot 189
LOBEY (Henri).
French magistrate, prosecutor.
Autograph letter signed “Henri Lobey,” addressed to a friend.
[Paris, 98 Boulevard Pereire], November 11, 1925.
1 page, folio size, in blue ink, on letterhead printed “98, Boulevard Pereire.”
A charming invitation letter, written entirely in his own hand, in which Henri Lobey invites his correspondent to dinner on Wednesday, October 2, 1884, noting that “tonight we will present the rosette to our friend Aubépin.”
The text, written in elegant and clearly legible cursive, reflects the social customs of the legal circles of the late 19th century, where honorary distinctions gave rise to friendly gatherings. The handwritten date “Nov. 11, 1925,” added later, suggests that the letter was preserved or filed at a later date.
Horizontal and vertical creases, minimal foxing; otherwise in good condition.
