LARREY (Hippolyte). - Lot 168
LARREY (Hippolyte). Born in Paris, 1808—died in 1895. French military surgeon, member of the Institut. Son of the famous Baron Dominique Jean Larrey, chief surgeon of the Grande Armée. Autograph letter signed “Dr. Larrey,” addressed to “Monsieur.” No place or date [February 29]. Half a page, in-8 format. A short thank-you letter in which Hippolyte Larrey expresses his regret that he cannot count on the presence and support of his correspondent “next Tuesday.” A brief but revealing document shedding light on the professional and personal interactions of a leading 19th-century military surgeon, heir to a prestigious name in Napoleonic medicine.
