HUBBARD (Nicolas-Gustave). (Fourqueux, Yvelines, 1828–1888) French economist and historian, author of works on financial and administrative issues, and a keen observer of parliamentary life during the Third Republic. Autograph letter signed, “G. Hubbard,” addressed “To the Editor.” Paris, September 1880. 1 page, in-8 format, on letterhead of the Chamber of Deputies—Questure. An interesting account of parliamentary life Letter addressed to the editor of the newspaper *Le Parlement*, in which Hubbard forwards a note intended to report on an incident that occurred within the chamber itself. The document is accompanied by a short text recounting “what happened today inside the chamber, when the session was adjourned shortly after the reading of the minutes.” Here, the author acts as a liaison between the parliamentary institution and the press, illustrating the mechanisms for disseminating political information in the late 19th century. Through this communication, Hubbard demonstrates the commitment to accuracy and responsiveness that characterized exchanges between administrative circles and media outlets specializing in political affairs.
