FIGUIER (Louis). - Lot 110
FIGUIER (Louis).
Born in Montpellier in 1819—died in Paris in 1894.
Physician, professor of pharmacy, and one of the great popularizers of science in the 19th century.
Autograph letter signed “Louis Figuier” to “My dear Mr. Lapp.”
Paris, September 13 [undated, circa 1860–1880].
1 page, in-8 format, written in cursive ink, with autograph signature.
A charming letter of request in which Figuier asks his correspondent to secure a box at the Théâtre du Châtelet for a performance by “Mlle Danchéff.”
He writes, in part:
“I take the liberty of asking you for a letter to secure a box for tonight at the Châtelet… If that proves difficult… I would ask you for the same favor for the Gymnase…”
And he concludes courteously:
“I look forward to your reply soon…”
