CROISET (Marie Joseph, known as Alfred). Born in Paris in 1845—died in 1923. Hellenist, professor at the Faculty of Letters in Paris, member of the Institut de France. Handwritten card signed “A. Croiset,” addressed to a correspondent. No place [Paris], November 10 [undated]. Letterhead of the University of Paris. 1 page. A brief note regarding a request for information for a budget report, forwarded through Mr. Aubry. Croiset asks for a few days’ extension, noting that he will soon send his correspondent copies of his opening-day address, in which he hopes the requested information will be included. An interesting insight into administrative and academic exchanges within the University of Paris in the late 19th or early 20th century, illustrating the role of professors in the production and dissemination of official documents.
