BERLIER (Jean-Baptiste). Born in Rive-de-Gier on October 11, 1843—died in Deauville on September 9, 1911. French engineer and inventor, pioneer of pneumatic transport systems and forerunner of the Paris Metro. Signed autograph letter, addressed to Mr. Maurice… Paris, November 5, 1900 (date as written). 1 page, in-8 format, on a card with the printed header “Exposition de canots automobiles,” with a handwritten address on the reverse.
