SIEFF (Jeanloup). - Lot 269
SIEFF (Jeanloup). For Press Freedom. Paris, Reporters Without Borders, 2005. In-4, paperback, illustrated cover. An album published to mark the 20th anniversary of Reporters Without Borders, dedicated to Jeanloup Sieff (1933–2000), the proceeds from the sale of which were intended to support the organization’s efforts to promote press freedom. A leading figure in French photography during the second half of the 20th century, Jeanloup Sieff is renowned for his instantly recognizable style, blending graphic elegance, sensuality, humor, and mastery of light. A sought-after portrait photographer and fashion photographer for Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and Esquire, he also produced numerous landscapes, nudes, and portraits of artists that rank among the most iconic images of contemporary photography. Published a few years after his death, this book brings together a selection of his most striking photographs, chosen with the help of his family. A foreword by Michel Tournier accompanies the collection. Like all photo books published by Reporters Without Borders, it combines the discovery of a great body of photographic work with support for independent journalism. Condition: very good copy.
