LARTIGUE (Jacques-Henri). Jacques-Henri Lartigue. Paris, Delpire / Le Nouvel Observateur, *Histoire de la Photographie* series, n.d. [circa 1978]. Large quarto, publisher’s hardcover with illustrated dust jacket.
First edition of this important monograph published in the renowned *Histoire de la Photographie* series, edited by Robert Delpire, who devoted several volumes to the great masters of photography.
The book traces the entire body of work by Jacques-Henri Lartigue (1894–1986), a pioneer of instant photography, whose images—taken from childhood onward—rank among the most famous of the 20th century. The reproductions cover everything from family scenes, the elegance of the Belle Époque, automobile races, and the early feats of aviation to the portraits and landscapes that mark a career spanning more than seventy years.
Abundant black-and-white illustrations, reproduced full-page with excellent print quality.
Condition: very good copy. Dust jacket slightly yellowed with minor soiling and a few signs of wear; hardcover and interior in very fresh condition.
