A catalog dedicated to Dorothea Lange (1895–1965), one of the greatest figures in American documentary photography. The book traces her career from her portraits of San Francisco to the campaigns she undertook for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression. It brings together the images that established her worldwide reputation—including *Migrant Mother*—as well as lesser-known photographs documenting rural exodus, farmworkers, the internment of Japanese Americans, and social transformations in the United States. An excellent introduction to a body of work in which documentary rigor is combined with deep empathy for the most disadvantaged. Condition: very good copy in the publisher’s illustrated hardcover binding. A few very slight signs of wear on the headband and corners; interior is fresh and clean.
