DOISNEAU (Robert). - Lot 84
DOISNEAU (Robert). Robert Doisneau. Paris, Galerie Claude Bernard, n.d. (late 1970s). Large oblong quarto, white publisher’s cardboard binding, title page featuring Robert Doisneau’s signature on the front cover. A beautiful album published to coincide with an exhibition organized by Galerie Claude Bernard, one of the leading advocates of Robert Doisneau’s work. It brings together a selection of his most iconic photographs, reproduced full-page on high-quality paper, without intrusive critical commentary, emphasizing the visual power of the images. It features the major themes dear to Doisneau: working-class Paris, lovers, children, bistros, workers, the suburbs, as well as several of his most famous compositions, including *The Kiss at City Hall*. The understated presentation, entirely focused on the photographs, makes this one of the most elegant exhibition catalogs dedicated to the photographer. Condition: good copy. Very slight, diffuse foxing on the endpapers, not serious. Cover is in fresh condition.
