DE DECKER (Marie-Laure). Profession? Photojournalist. Foreword by Édouard Boubat. Interview with Annie Lorenzo. Paris, Ch. Massin, n.d. (circa 1990). Large quarto, publisher’s red cloth binding, silver title on the front cover. First edition of this monograph dedicated to Marie-Laure de Decker (1947–2023), one of the leading French figures in war photojournalism. The book combines a lengthy autobiographical interview with an extensive collection of photographs chronicling nearly twenty years of reporting on the major crisis hotspots of the second half of the 20th century: Vietnam, Chad, Southern Africa, the Middle East, Chile, and Afghanistan, as well as numerous portraits of writers, artists, and political figures. The volume is preceded by a preface by Édouard Boubat, who highlights the photographer’s humanistic commitment and unbiased perspective. Illustrated with numerous black-and-white reproductions. Condition: good copy. Cardboard cover slightly soiled with a small tear and a slight dent on the top edge (not serious); interior very clean and fresh.
