An important catalog of the public auction of the estate of Dora Maar (1907–1997), held at the Hôtel Drouot on November 20, 1998, under the supervision of Michèle Chomette. It is one of the first reference works devoted to her entire body of photographic work following her death. The catalog lists Dora Maar’s photographs as well as works by Man Ray, Brassaï, Irving Penn, Emmanuel Sougez, Izis, Rogi André, and other photographers from her circle. The entries are richly illustrated and accompanied by auction estimates, making this volume an important documentary source on the photography market in the late 1990s. This copy includes the complimentary card from PIASA, hand-signed by a representative of the auction house (unidentified courtesy signature), attached as a loose insert. Condition: very good copy.
