BARRACO (Daniel), ed. - Lot 21
BARRACO (Daniel), ed. Fotografía Mendocina Actual. Mendoza, [no publisher listed], 1998. Large square quarto (approx. 29 x 29 cm), gray full-cloth hardcover with embossing on the front cover, preserved in its original publisher’s die-cut corrugated cardboard slipcase. Designed and produced by Daniel Barraco. Text in Spanish. Numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions by contemporary photographers from the province of Mendoza. Unpaginated (approx. 120 pp.). First edition of this important overview of contemporary photography in Mendoza, published in the late 1990s. The book brings together a selection of works by the leading photographers of this region of Argentina, demonstrating the vitality of Mendoza’s photographic creativity. The reproductions, printed with great care, alternate between landscapes, formal explorations, documentary photography, and artistic experiments. The understated presentation, in an elegant cloth-bound hardcover accompanied by its original corrugated cardboard slipcase, underscores the bibliophile nature of this publication. A little-circulated work, rarely found outside Argentina, sought after by enthusiasts of contemporary Latin American photography. Condition: very good copy. Full-cloth binding in perfect condition. Interior in excellent condition. Publisher’s slipcase slightly worn, showing some scuffing, soiling, minor warping, and slight fraying at the edges—none of which is serious.
