ON THE BODY AND ITS IMAGE. - Lot 3
ON THE BODY AND ITS IMAGE. Brétigny Cultural Center, June 18–September 30, 1983. Brétigny-sur-Orge, Brétigny Cultural Center, 1983. In-4, paperback, printed cover. A rare exhibition catalog devoted to representations of the body in the history of photography, curated by Françoise Denoyelle. The book brings together a particularly representative selection of major artists, including Robert Demachy, Germaine Krull, Raoul Hausmann, Man Ray, André Kertész, Pierre Boucher, Willy Ronis, Florence Henri, Pierre Mercier, Toto Frima, Fontana, Puyo, Perdrix, and Vulliez. The collection offers a journey from Pictorialism to the avant-garde, then to humanist and contemporary photography, illustrating the multiple approaches to the body, the nude, the portrait, and the construction of the photographic image. An important record of the first French exhibitions devoted to a historical and aesthetic interpretation of photography. Condition: good copy. Cover is slightly soiled with a few minor signs of wear and a marginal stain on the back cover; interior is fresh and well-preserved.
