1936–1945. Magnum Before Magnum. - Lot 2
1936–1945. Magnum Before Magnum. Lyon, Center for the History of the Resistance and Deportation, 1996. In-4, loose-leaf format with an illustrated cover. Rare press kit for the exhibition “1936–1945: Magnum Before Magnum,” dedicated to the works of the four founders of the Magnum agency (Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and David Seymour), held at the Center for the History of the Resistance and Deportation in Lyon from March 28 to October 28, 1996. The kit includes: an illustrated cover; an introduction to the exhibition and its layout; the program of thematic sections (“The 1930s,” “World War II,” etc.); several photographic reproductions; a typewritten cover letter signed by Sabine Zeitoun, director of the Center for the History of the Resistance and Deportation, dated June 4, 1996, accompanying the press kit; a newspaper clipping announcing the exhibition. A rare collection, as press kits from this period were generally distributed in limited quantities to journalists and rarely preserved in their entirety. Condition: cover slightly soiled with signs of wear and a small tear on the back cover; interior in good condition. Signed letter and newspaper clipping included.
