"The Scorpion" Figurine - Armado Catalano Holding His Sword - Lot 57
"The Scorpion" Figurine - Armado Catalano Holding His Sword - Marini & Dufaux - Pixi / Regout - 2002 Limited Edition A superb and imposing hand-painted resin collector’s statuette depicting the charismatic adventurer Armado Catalano, known as “The Scorpion,” the main character of the famous historical comic book series created by artist Enrico Marini and writer Stephen Desberg (published by Dargaud). The sculpture beautifully captures the character’s commanding presence: bare-chested, with black hair blowing in the wind, clad in boots, pants, and a long, bright scarlet red frock coat. He is depicted standing on a circular black pedestal, firmly gripping his long sword with both hands. Product Details: Character: The Scorpion (Armado Catalano) Artists: Marini - Dufaux (erroneously listed on the mold under the name of the colorist/album’s creative team) Official License: Dargaud-Benelux Manufacturer / Distributor: Produced under license by Hyphen S.A. and crafted by the Regout workshops (distinctive “R” mark on the bottom of the piece). Material: High-quality, hand-painted polychrome resin. Year of production: 2002. Condition and markings: Markings on the base: The underside of the figurine bears all the official inscriptions engraved into the material, attesting to its authenticity. Edition number: An individual edition number is inscribed in fine handwriting on the lower edge of the base (copy no. 319). Overall condition: In very fine overall condition. The original colors (particularly the vivid red of the costume and the skin tone of the torso) are remarkably well preserved. The sword’s blade, thin and fragile, is intact and straight. The base and the overall structure show no defects. A rare and spectacular centerpiece, essential for completing the collection of any enthusiast of Enrico Marini’s graphic work and the great swashbuckling sagas of Franco-Belgian comics.
