VOISINS (Gilbert de). - Lot 301
VOISINS (Gilbert de). Signed autograph letter to a correspondent. From Purre, June 23 [1918]. Signed autograph letter, 2 pages in-4 on laid paper, dated at the top “From Purre, this June 23,” signed Gilbert de Voisins. Gilbert de Voisins (1877–1939), a French novelist, poet, and essayist associated with Symbolist circles, was the author of a unique body of work blending fantasy, psychology, and spirituality. Winner of the 1926 Prix Femina for *Le Bar de la Fourche*, he remains a prominent figure in French literature of the first half of the 20th century. An interesting private letter in which the writer provides a lengthy update on his family. He discusses his son’s concerning health, whose recovery remains uncertain, the care he is receiving, and the resulting worries. He also mentions his wife, who is pregnant and whose pregnancy is progressing well, as well as various domestic and personal concerns. The letter concludes with an announcement of upcoming projects, research, and a future shipment of documents likely to interest his correspondent, followed by a particularly warm closing. Beautiful autograph signature at the end of the second page. Condition: generally good condition. Slightly yellowed paper with a few scattered foxing spots and creases from handling. Very slight marginal wear without affecting the text.
