VASSEUR (Gaston) (1847–1923) (highly probable attribution) - Lot 299
VASSEUR (Gaston) (1847–1923) (highly probable attribution) Signed autograph letter, Paris, July 21, 1903. 2-page autograph letter in-8, dated Paris, July 21, 1903, signature attributable to Gaston Vasseur, geologist and paleontologist. An interesting scientific letter addressed to a colleague, in which the author apologizes for not having been able to respond sooner to an invitation, before discussing paleontological work that he considers particularly promising. He suggests presenting this work at the Sorbonne’s geology laboratory, where its novel nature might warrant a presentation to the Academy of Sciences. A valuable record of the exchanges between French geologists and paleontologists in the early 20th century, illustrating the relationships between the Sorbonne, the Muséum, and the major French scientific institutions.
