TRUFFI (Pierre) (1859–1921) - Lot 297
TRUFFI (Pierre) (1859–1921) Signed autograph letter, Paris, July 17, 1919. One-page autograph letter on 8vo letterhead from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, dated Paris, July 17, 1919, signed by Pierre Truffi, then Minister of Commerce and Industry. A short letter addressed to a director, in which Pierre Truffi warmly recommends Mr. Afforte, whom he describes as a dedicated and experienced colleague. He asks his correspondent to extend the warmest welcome to Mr. Afforte and to provide him with support in connection with a mission related to the development of French trade relations with Colombia. An engineer by training, a member of the National Assembly representing the Basses-Alpes department, and later Minister of Commerce and Industry from 1919 to 1920, Pierre Truffi played an active role in France’s economic reorganization in the aftermath of World War I and in the restoration of international trade. An interesting ministerial letter of recommendation illustrating the Ministry of Commerce’s efforts to promote French economic interests abroad in the immediate postwar period.
