SARTY (Pierre). - Lot 285
SARTY (Pierre). Signed autograph letter regarding an important financial negotiation. Montignac, March 1, 1960. Signed autograph letter, 3 pages in-4, written in Montignac, dated March 1, 1960, addressed to a close correspondent named Joël. A long and remarkable letter in which Pierre SARTY sets forth with great candor his analysis of a delicate financial and industrial transaction involving several executives and shareholder groups. The author discusses in detail the negotiations, the responsibilities of the various key players, the balance of power between the parties, the hesitations of certain board members, and the consequences of a failure that he considers highly instructive. In particular, he discusses the interests of the shareholders, the decisions of the boards of directors, and the personal strategies of several executives identified by their initials, offering a truly “immediate” commentary on this affair. The text, dense and entirely handwritten, offers a particularly vivid account of the inner workings of high-level negotiations in the French business world in the early 1960s. Its tone is very personal and reveals the author’s analyses, regrets, and expectations regarding how the situation would unfold. Beautiful autograph signature by Pierre SARTY. Condition: generally good condition. Folds from correspondence, a few minor stains and faint foxing, none of which are serious. Well preserved.
