ROCHEFORT (Henri) (1831–1913) - Lot 271
ROCHEFORT (Henri) (1831–1913) Signed autograph postcard, Monte Carlo, May 18, no year indicated. Illustrated postcard depicting the Monte Carlo Theater, addressed to Albert Deligne, 60 Rue des Archives, Paris. Postmarks from Monte Carlo; signed by Henri Rochefort. A warm note in which Henri Rochefort thanks his correspondent for writing to him and informs him of his stay in Monte-Carlo, noting that he is staying at Villa Camille on Avenue Gabriel. He mentions that he will soon be receiving a visitor and sends his correspondent his warmest regards. A journalist, polemicist, and politician, Henri Rochefort was one of the most famous figures in French political life during the Second Empire and the early years of the Third Republic. Founder of *La Lanterne*, a member of the National Assembly and later a senator, he remained a major figure in the French press until the end of his life. A charming illustrated postcard, offering a glimpse into the private correspondence of one of the most influential journalists of his time.
