ROBERT (Henri) - Lot 269
ROBERT (Henri) Signed autograph letter to Mademoiselle Blanche Jullien, 98 Boulevard Pereire [Paris], undated [circa 1905–1915]. A charming autograph letter from Henri Robert (1863–1936), a renowned attorney at the Paris Bar, future president of the Paris Bar Association, and member of the Académie française. In this brief note, he apologizes for having been detained at the Palais de Justice and sets a time to meet for the autographs: “I was held up late at the Palais; please come see me tomorrow, Tuesday, at 5 o’clock—the autographs will be ready.” ” He concludes by extending his “warmest regards” to his correspondent. The document is presented with its autographed envelope addressed to Mademoiselle Blanche Jullien, 12 or 14 Rue de l’Arcade, Paris, bearing a 15-centime stamp. 2 autographed items: 1 L.A.S., 1 p. in-12, on letterhead “98, Boulevard Pereire.” 1 autographed envelope with address, stamp, and postmark. A lovely testament to the relationships Henri Robert maintained with autograph collectors and letter enthusiasts in the early 20th century. A set of good provenance and in good condition.
