PALLAIN (Georges) (1847–1933) - Lot 249
PALLAIN (Georges) (1847–1933) Signed typewritten letter, Banque de France, Paris, October 7, 1925. Typewritten letter on Banque de France letterhead, 2 pages, quarto size, signed by Georges Pallain, then Honorary Governor of the Banque de France. An interesting letter of recommendation addressed to A. Roger, Honorary President of the Paris Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of Alfred Sévène, a former captain in the Chasseurs, an Officer of the Legion of Honor, and recently hired by the insurance company La Préservatrice. Pallain emphasizes the candidate’s military merits, highlights his family’s prominence in French administrative and industrial circles, and appeals to his correspondent’s goodwill to facilitate the candidate’s integration. A fine example of the networks of influence within France’s senior financial administration during the interwar period.
