MINES DE LA FARFOULETTE - Lot 235
MINES DE LA FARFOULETTE Signed autograph letter, Paris, December 2, 1897. One-page autograph letter on 8vo paper bearing the letterhead of Mines de la Farfoulette, headquartered at 6 Boulevard des Capucines, dated December 2, 1897. Signature unidentified. An interesting letter concerning a mining company’s announcement. Following a conversation with his correspondent, the author requests his assistance in obtaining a response from Mr. Ferrouillat regarding the terms for publishing, in the newspaper *Le Lyon Républicain*, excerpts from a document then in the process of being printed. He specifies that he wishes to present this insert as regional news rather than as a paid advertisement. This document illustrates the communication and promotional strategies implemented by French mining companies in the late 19th century, as well as their relations with the regional press at a time when they were seeking to raise their profile among investors and the public. It offers an interesting insight into the history of the economy, mining, and corporate communications during the Third Republic.
