LE MONDE MUSICAL - Lot 183
LE MONDE MUSICAL L.A.S., Paris, October 23, 1892, 2 pp., in-8, on letterhead of the journal *Le Monde Musical*, with a stamped and postmarked envelope addressed to Albert Jacquot, a luthier in Nancy. An interesting letter providing editorial and bibliographic updates regarding the publication of a study on instrument making. The author acknowledges receipt of a previous letter and states that he expects to resume his review of the study by the end of November. He then shares the response he received from Mr. Gengel, which was, unfortunately, unfavorable: “This company is unyielding, much to my regret.” The letter also mentions the difficulties in completing a collection of the journal; the author is specifically seeking issues 40 and 58, the absence of which compromises the organization of the series. He notes that he has sent a copy of the journal to his correspondent and hopes to meet with him during an upcoming visit to Paris to resolve the issue with the publishers once and for all. Addressed to Albert Jacquot (1853–1915), a renowned luthier from Nancy and a leading figure in French instrument making, this correspondence illustrates the close ties between the specialized music press, publishers, and instrument makers in the late 19th century. A fine business letter on letterhead from the magazine *Le Monde Musical*, preserved with its original postmarked envelope. The set is in good condition.
